- DR. WHO COLLECTORS' EDITION EPISODE GUIDE

This episode is a carry on of 'Aliens of London'.  It has the Doctor joining Rose and Harriet Jones as they run for their lives through the hallways and corridors of Downing Street as the huge, ugly Slitheen chase after them.  (note: Slitheen is the family name of the criminal aliens, but please don't ask me to try to spell the name of their home world!) The three take cover in the cabinet room, where after the Doctor hits a button, the room locks down with 3 inches of steel over the walls, doors and windows.

It turns out the Doctor, Rose and Harriet aren't the only ones having all the fun, an Alien masquerading as a Policeman also dropped his human 'suit' and made a pass at taking Jacky's life, but Micky arrives just in time to help.  Whilst talking to the Doctor on the phone as the two cower in Micky's flat and the Alien is beating down the door to get them, the Doctor does some brain storming with his two comrades and he works out that the Slitheen's species is made of calcium, therefore would be allergic to vinegar. Just as the Slitheen advances upon Jacky and Micky in the kitchen, the two armed with jars of pickles and gherkins, throw the contents onto their attacker… and SPLAT! The Slitheen explodes very messily, leaving a stunned Micky and Jacky standing there with Alien remains all over them.

So far the Doctor has worked out the Slitheen's plans with crashing the alien space craft as a distraction and they were the ones who genetically altered the pig and put it in the space suit, but what he can't work out why they would want to put the humans' on alert like this?  So what does he do?  He lowers the metal shield on the cabinet room door and asks the Aliens waiting outside what exactly their plans are.  Don't you just love this about the Doctor?  In nearly ever incarnation he's in, he will take the time to walk up to the enemy and flat out ask them what their devious plan is, if he can't ingeniously come up with it himself.  Or he'll be happy to share his thoughts and deductions with friend or foe, sometimes over a packet of Jellybabies… although with this version of the Doctor, no sweets have been procured so far.

Since the Slitheen see the Doctor, Rose and Harriet as goners anyway, what the hell, they share their evil intentions… "reduce the Earth to molten slack and sell it."  They will start World War 3 once the United Nations votes give them access to the world's nuclear arsenal to fight the 'aliens'.  Then they will sell off the Earth in pieces of radioactive chunks to other races and planets.

The Doctor naturally cannot have this and warns the Slitheen to stop or he will stop them.  The Slitheen find this quite amusing, since he's the one trapped inside the cabinet room with no way out.  But of course being in a locked room with certain death awaiting him outside the door has never stopped the Doctor before.  Over the phone, he guides Micky through the process of using the Internet to hack into the Royal Navy's systems and he gives Micky the passwords to use to launch a missile at Downing Street.

Locked inside the steel sealed room makes the Doctor, Rose and Harriet relatively safe (but it's not guaranteed, but the for sake of humanity, the three of them agree to risk it).  Just as the Slitheen were all converged inside the Prime Minister's office to receive the news from the UN, the missile hits Downing Street with a very loud BOOM!  Our three heroes escape only dazed, however the Slitheen were not so lucky.  Harriet Jones departs to clear things with the reporters and police introducing herself as "Harriet Jones, MP for Flydell North", and the Doctor watches her go; "Harriet Jones, thought I recognized that name.  Future Prime Minister elected three successive terms.  The architect of Britain's Golden Age," he tells Rose.
